I’ve Been Attacked.

Well, this morning I checked out my site while looking for some old info I had saved here, and I noticed that my usual index of this site was set to a blank page displaying “haha you got owned”.

I immediately checked my database, which was also wiped clean. I wasn’t too concerned at this point because I had backed up everything just a week ago.

I wont detail my suspicions on how this occurred, for security purposes. But I have fixed the security hole and have retrieved the last IP that was able to successfully view my web page, and it was not mine. It was probably some silly script kiddies. Doesn’t hurt me much.

Backups, for the win!

i wonder if you have the wordpress version that was known to have an exploit [a little too late]? Thanks for the reminder of the importance of backups. Glad you lost nothing! :)

    PS. Nice site.

    Steven! This sucks!
I also recently got hacked! :(
10 of my domains had a hidden link (in the index.php file) to a russian site with virus programs all over the place.
Why do people waste time in hacking sites when getting nothing in return?
    Can anyone answer that question?

BTW: I am about to transform your 301 guide to swedish (including a link to your site of course)

Wow, that sucks. I never really thought much about being hacked, since I don’t have any high profile sites, but I guess backing up is still important online as well as it is on the home box.

Ah, yes. Backups are so important, this is a case in point.

It’s a good thing you were prepared.
